Episode 3.12

Episode 3.12a, Addendum

You are the official interpreter for the French embassy of Louis XIV in April 1685. Your party has spent 8 months at sea preparing for a trip to Ayutthaya, capital of Siam. The eminent King Narai – and his Greek Mahatthai, Constantine Phaulkon, have encouraged the French to come and send embassies to their kingdom. When you arrive, you meet with a representative there and receive a tour of the wondrous Royal Metropolis.

This episode is a finctionalized account of a French embassy sent to Ayutthaya. Ayutthaya was, in its own estimation and that of its many visitors, an impressive place. Today, we explore that city, taking in its sights, sounds and smells, before we resume our narrative in late January 2022.
